A statue of Patravadi in the courtyard of her theater.
A short walk from the Wang Lung Pier is the beautiful contemporary theater complex of the Patravadi Theater complex. The theater company was established in 1992 by Patravadi Mejudhon, an award winning actress in movies, television and stage. She is also an acclaimed director and playwright.
The company also hosts the Institute for Performing Arts, which provides workshops to professionals as well as students of Chulalongkorn and Mahidol Universities. A dynamic sort of 'exchange' program brings directors and choreographers from all over the world to both work with the members and receive training in Thai classical, Khon and folk dancing.
The 450 seat open-air main auditorium.
The 'season' for the company runs from June to February. There are two theaters in the complex: a covered open-air theater seating 450 and an indoor studio seating 100. Performances are held on weekends during the season. There are also performances of Thai classical and modern dances on Friday and Saturday at the riverside Supatra restaurant near the theater complex.
