The restaurant row and conference center of the Crystal Design Center.
The sparkling new Crystal Design Center, opened in 2010, won't figure on most Bangkok visitor's radar, but if you're interested furniture and home decor, you may wish to think about paying it a visit. The massive complex mixes large showrooms with smaller boutique shops in an open plan suburban location. There are also a number of restaurants, a supermarket and several other shops of the kind you'd expect in a typical shopping mall.
The major local brands are all represented at the center, although you should note that many of the big brands also import products from elsewhere, so things here won't necessarily be cheaper in Thailand than in other countries.
The center is located in suburban Bangkok, on the frontage road of the Ekkamai - Ram Indra highway. The only way to get there is by taxi or other private transportation. Most of the shops in the center are open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm but since it's an open air complex, individual stores and restaurants can open and close as they see fit. The supermarket is open 24 hours. Consult the Crystal Design Center web site for a list of tenants and more information.
